INDIAN RAILWAYS RELAXED REFUND RULES FOR TICKETS BOOKED FROM COUNTERS, IN THE WAKE OF COVID-19.
Please note that Relaxation given from 21st March to 15th April, to prevent crowding and maintain social distancing. If any train cancelled by Railways from 21 March – 15 th April 2020. Refund of tickets across counter can be taken upto 45 days from date of journey (Instead of 3 hours/72 hours normally).
If train is not cancelled but passengers don’t want to perform journey between 21 st March-15 th Apr., Ticket Deposit Receipt for refund can be submitted upto 30 days from date of journey( instead of 3 days normally) at stations.
If train is not cancelled but passengers don’t want to perform journey between 21st March-15th Apr., Ticket Deposit Receipt for refund can be submitted in Chief Commerical Manager’s/Chief Claims Officer’s office upto 60 days from date of journey (instead of 10 days normally). Passengers don’t wanting to travel can cancel through 139 and get refund at counters upto 30 days (Instead of before departure of train).
These relaxations are to ensure that passengers can conveniently claim refunds at a later date, without urgency.
