Western Railway’s General Manager carried out a surprise inspection on the zone’s Mumbai suburban territory on Friday.
GM Alok Kansal travelled by local train at 11.06 am from Churchgate to Andheri station. He then conducted a thorough inspection of the Platforms & Foot Over Bridges (FOBs). He conducted a surprise inspection of Andheri & Dadar stations. He was accompanied by the Divisional Railway Manager of Mumbai Central Division and other senior railway officers.
Platforms were inspected for the orderliness of various aspects – safety, cleanliness, passenger amenities and overall aesthetics. He gave inputs to his team for system improvement. The GM then travelled with a motorman in the driving cab from Andheri to reach Dadar station to take stock of safety & punctuality of local train operations.
He also inspected the coaches with respect to the proper functioning of fittings – lights, fans, handles etc that are essential for ensuring comfortable travel.
The GM also interacted with daily commuters and took direct feedback. According to a statement from Western Railway, passengers were thankful that local train services were restarted for the general public.
