Indian Railways says it will have delivered approximately 450 tons of oxygen to various places by tomorrow morning. The organization has started several ‘Oxygen Express’ trains to transport liquid medical oxygen.
These trains have begun moving oxygen from various production units to cities that have been hit the most by the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
154 tons of oxygen is currently in transit to Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. 302 tons of LMO has already been delivered to various cities so far. One Oxygen Express train carrying 4 tankers is expected to reach Delhi from Raigarh (Chhattisgarh) today. For the residents of Maharashtra, a train carrying 44 MT (in 3 tankers) has reached Kalamboli (near Mumbai) from Hapa (Rajkot, Gujarat) today.
Another Oxygen express is currently on the run from Bokaro (Jharkhand) to Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) carrying 90 MT of LMO (in 5 tankers) and is expected to reach Lucknow by early morning tomorrow. One empty rake will depart from Lucknow to Bokaro to bring one more set of Oxygen tankers.
