Alok Kansal – General Manager, Western Rly, on Wednesday, 22nd July, 2020 digitally unveiled & released the achievements booklet titled – “The Warriors of the COVID Pandemic”. This booklet, as the name suggests enumerates various accomplishments & achievements by W. Rly during the lockdown period. Shri Kansal dedicated this booklet to all frontline staff of W. Rly and congratulated each and every employee who has gone beyond the call of duty to serve the nation and its people.
This informative booklet encompasses all aspects & the contribution by W. Rly to combat the pandemic and also salutes the bravery and commitment of the corona warriors for their exemplary devotion towards duty. In spite of the lockdown, the wheels of Western Railway were always in motion, albeit a brief period initial stages when passenger train services were suspended. Not only was W. Rly devoted in the routine maintenance & up gradation works of its vast network, but it was also engaged in various noble activities including distribution of food to the needy, preparation of masks and sanitizers for the frontline staff, PPE kits for the Medical staff etc.
This booklet, especially designed & prepared by Public Relations Department of Western Rly, also delves into the efforts taken by W. Rly in running the Shramik Special trains to transport the migrants & stranded people to their home , the Special Parcel trains, Milk Vans & Good trains run to make available the essential commodities to different parts of the country.
Various infrastructural accomplishments during this period, Conversion of normal coaches into Isolation wards and other such innovations also find their mention in this booklet. It also portrays the major contribution of W. Rly’s Jagjivan Ram Hospital(JRH)– the first & only Railway hospital in the country converted into dedicated COVID Hospital for the treatment of COVID patients. W.Rly and its strong work force has stood unwavered, fighting from the front and reaching out with support and service.
