WR’s Mahim station gets electronic interlocking system

Western Railway (WR ) successfully installed electronic interlocking system (of Westrace make) at Mahim station on Tuesday October 22, 2024. These works were during the night block taken on October 21and 22, 2024 WR said in a statement.

The EI installation includes  66 routes, 32 signals, 17 points, patching of 77 track circuits, auto changeover facility, Fire Alarm System, Train Management System (TMS) connectivity with Electronic Interlocking.

Indicators, public address (PA) , control phones and telecom facilities have been shifted from old Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) to new Electronic Interlocking building. The introduction of electronic interlocking will enhance safety by eliminating manual errors.

With its fail-safe operation, faster decision making and automated route setting and signal management, efficiency will be increased. In addition, it will reduce signal failures, reduce maintenance and improve train operations.
